making a statement

The government has been trying to pass a law concerning vending machines but I think people are having difficulty conforming. If only someone starts to make a bold statement about healthy eating then there could be a chance for a change. I used to watch Jamie Oliver's show regarding Britain's school lunches and he showed that in order to be successful, changes should start from one's family with the help of the community and the government.

I think that would be a great idea, but how many families will do that? What about families that aren't family oriented?...This makes it very hard to educate parents about healthy eating, so that they can educate their children. I think doctors should speak to parents about feeding babies healthy from the very beginning, and informing them that it is not healthy to give children junk food. This may be a warning to parents, "Well, Dr. X said its bad,so i won't give Tommy any chips, and i'll give him an apple instead". I have also noticed something else though, children like variety! I have a nephew, and he cannot have the same food two days in a row, or he'll refuse to eat it. I'm not a child development specialist, but from my observation with my nephew it seems that children prefer variety, but then again my nephew could be really picky...hahaha.
